ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

The Gardena Buddhist Church Japanese Language School opened in June 1928. It is guided by the School Board Chairman and the Committee, who are elected by the Gardena Buddhist Church.

Our school is designed to meet the needs of families who want their children to learn the language and culture. The children are not only Japanese and Japanese-American but also children with a wide range of backgrounds who want to learn Japanese and Japanese cultures in the community.

We currently have about 110 students from 5 to 18 years old, and our eight classes are divided into age groups.

For the last school year, we had three events: class photo shoots, Presentation Day, and Graduation Ceremony. I am very happy that the school has returned to a lively place again.

For the 2023-2024 school year, we will continue to pay attention to safety, and create an environment where each student can find value and joy in learning the Japanese language.
